Thus, when contemplating how to give my newly minted blog a name, a favourite Nietzsche quote about learning to sing better songs seems appropriate. That, and the realization that I will be subjected to many hours of singing whilst driving solo across this great country. It doesn't help that I purposefully downloaded a few of the kids favourite ear-worm songs, including "Who Let the Dog's Out?" and "500 Miles". Yes, there will be singing.
I've started this blog in large part to document my trip across the country. I've had several people suggest that I blog, and many that seem interested (or at least feigned interest) in how our overall trip goes. I've also started to read blogs again - mostly just http://localkitchener.wordpress.com, but also several others blogs friends post to Facebook or that they mention. I don't anticipate many people ever reading these posts, but I do think it will be useful for me to reflect on my journey in future years. I have also been struck by how powerful Mike's blog has been for both Leia and I (http://inthecancerbubble.com).
As I tend to be a little too concerned about the words I write - a great explanation for the lack of thesis production of late, although a patently false one - I will strive to avoid the "write beautiful and meaningful prose" nonsense I usually set as the standard. I also promise to
I'll try my best to put up regular posts as I travel, but this will be mostly subject to the whims of free wifi spots and my ability to have something to post when I do pass a Tim's or McD's! Tomorrow it begins.
